Grumps Magee

If you guys haven't noticed, I disappeared for a few days and while I could easily blame it on exciting Labor Day plans, I'll be honest - I was a complete grump with a serious case of the "I don't wants." I've been stuck in my head, annoyed, grumpy and just plain lazy - and with no real cause for all this moodiness. I stayed in all day yesterday just so I wouldn't spread the negative, yet a tiny bit of it made its way over to Gentleman Caller. While I'm in a much better mood now, I just wanted to say I'm sorry to GC.

The Levee

Typical Sunday with Gentleman Caller...

He finds it funny that I'd jump out of a plane with no fear yet I get nervous when he drives on the levee...

Every Leaf is a Flower

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. ~Albert Camus

While most of the United States has four individual seasons, Louisiana has chosen to adopt the theory that two mashed-up cuhhhh-razzzzy seasons are all you really need. There's "Oh My Damn - It's so freaking hot that I just may go sit nekkid in the convenience store walk-in beer cooler while sippin' on an 32 oz. Icee " which is normally April through August. (And yes - that was "nekkid", not "naked") And then there's my favorite season "Oh My Damn - I can finally blink without breaking a sweat so bring on the steaming hot Gumbo and let's all sit around a ginormous fire" which takes up the rest of the year.

Its as though everyone is writing Autumn a pretty little love letter on their blogs today, and I won't be any different. "Oh My Damn - I can finally blink without breaking a sweat so bring on the steaming hot Gumbo and let's all sit around a ginormous fire" (or OMDICFBWBASSBOTSHGALASAAGF if you care to call it so) has seemingly come along with the flipping of my calendar and to say I couldn't be happier is a complete understatement.

I feel as though I'm about to burst out of my skin with pure exhilaration. I don't even think I can describe how great a mood I'm in - it's as though nothing can go wrong, and when it does, it simply doesn't matter. I'm marveling how easily my mood is influenced by the weather. Is anyone else like this?? It's like a dash cool air, a smidgen of clear sky, a little bit of sunshine and as Emeril would say BAM! Best mood ever!

It doesn't hurt that things are fall-ing (ooh my did I just attempt a weather pun?) back into place with Gentleman Caller and we've started seeing each other again. =)

Not Sure How to Say This...

But Gentleman Caller and I have decided to go our separate ways.

If I were a celebrity, my publicist would insert some bit about how we
remain friends and have decided to pursue different ventures.

Update: I'm alive. I'm well. I've had a fabulous weekend with my loving and supportive friends and family. I'm looking at the open roads ahead, remebering the beautifully great experiences, and refocusing my energy. I feel truly blessed to be exactly where I am in life and I look forward to sharing all the ups and downs with you all.

A Walk Downtown

This past Saturday, Gentleman Caller and I got together amidst our busy schedules (His: Frogging, Working on his property, Visiting with Family for a Cook Out. Mine: "Wreaking Havoc" with the Lovlies, Watching my Sex and The City DVDs, Eating everything in the cabinet and fridge) and headed to downtown Breaux Bridge.

It seems like every time he and I get in the car we drive through the area... and every time we pass through one of us wistfully mentions how we're dying to take a walk around and explore all the little shops. Okay... So GC wouldn't exactly word it like that. He'd probably say something along the lines of taking his people down here to "get right". Whatever. We went. And not so surprisingly... we "passed a good time."

As with any outing of ours, our first move was to grab a bite to eat. Simply put, We're food people. Our food probably ranks up there right below God & Family. Maybe even before friends. We may have even racked up enough research credentials to be considered "experts" on local Mexican places & burger joints. People, you can never underestimate the afterglow of a good cheeseburger.

So we stopped at Angelle's for cheeseburgers and french fries. I mean real french fries - the homemade kind - the kind that apparently make me do a little dance when I see them making their way to my table. And the burger...oh my word.... Can I just mention that their burgers have jalapenos in them? Nuff said right? Seriously. Amazingly good. It didn't stop there. Angelle's combines a diner with an ice cream shop... and to my surprise and GC's boyish delight, the ice cream shop has a Slush Puppy Machine. Since we've met, GC has brought up slush puppies about ...ohhhh.... 68 times. And since mention #3, we've been unsuccessfully trying to find a convenience store that hasn't replaced their Slush Puppy machine with an Icee setup. All that being said, you wont be surprised to hear most of the conversation from there on out revolved around how delicious his watermelon slushie was.

We spent the rest of the afternoon hopping around to all the little antique shops . And while I could sit here and rattle on and on about all the things we discovered, I'd be here for a few hours... Sorry Internet, I just don't have that kind of time. This girl's gotta get back to work. Hey! I've got to earn a little money so I can go back and scoop up all the anitques I saw. Don't worry I won't leave you completely high and dry... Here are some photos of our Saturday afternoon downtown.

Riding Through The Country

Yesterday, Gentleman Caller and I took a ride out to Lake Martin. I was a bit of a grouch after finding out he'd be busy with a trip "up north" for the next 4 days. As I sat quietly in the truck and feigned interest in the mud caked on to Bruiser's side mirror, he honked his horn at everyone we passed on the gravel road and gave them names like Donna, T-Poopsie, & Earl as if they we're his long lost cousins. I gave a half smile and told him he was crazy. He repeatedly tried to poke me in the underarm as he managed to keep hold of the wheel. I giggled. He turned his mp3 player to Colt Ford and rapped along as loud as he could while snapping the straps of his camouflage over-alls. He got me. I'm still smiling at the thought of it all.

Enjoy a little Colt Ford.
For those of you in Louisiana, He'll be playing at The Texas Club on October 3rd. GC and I will see you there

Full Moon at Noon?

Work has been slow for the majority of us in the Oilfield. Some pass some time by watching the Cajun Onstar Video, while I, on the other hand, get to e-mail Gentleman Caller and have him respond a lot sooner than the usual 3 hour wait time. He's still a bit oblivious to all the workings of his new iPhone which means he's slow with his typing, but lucky for me he's mastered the camera phone. Throughout the day, I get various "country gangsta" photos sent to my phone - the four wheeler inside the kitchen, the pet rooster, "Bruiser" (his beloved truck) all muddied up after a good rain - and I love them all. Silly, pointless photos that make me smile or say "OHHH Lawd!" Yesterday when conversation ran low, I opted out of asking him to "Tell me something I don't know." for the 1,000th time and asked him to send me a random photo. Big Mistake. While I won't re-post the photo here (DixieLust would like to keep some of it's integrity), I will say that I got to see one of his co-workers bending over in the machine shop and showing me his "full moon" while other co-workers stood in the background and made vulgar faces...

It's what I get for asking.

Little Thing 10

Feeling like I've conquered the world when I remember all the back-road routes to small towns that GC has taken me to.

What I'm Really After...

Me: I'm off to Ville Platte in the A.M.

Gentleman Caller: If you take Exit 23 off of I-49, I'll be right around the corner.

Me: Will you have insane amounts of beef, chicken, pork, and wild game? Because thats what I'm looking for...

What can I say? I know how to make a man feel wanted.

Little (BIG) Thing 3

Gentleman Caller has finally finished with all the legalities on his new property and gets to move onto his 15+ acres near Lake Martin TODAY!
