Peek-a-Boo!

Just another Friday at the office...

For some reason, we can't figure out why everyone keeps asking if we had a "liquid lunch"...

A Love Letter of Sorts

I ♥ Camp Laurel

I can't believe its been almost 4 whole summer since I've worked at Camp Laurel. And it's even more unbelievable how much I miss it. I mean... spending 8 whole weeks with 21 thirteen year old girls in what seems to be the worlds smallest (and filthiest) cabin - who wants to do that? I do. I spent most of my lunch hour on Facebook flipping through this summer's camp pictures. And while I don't know a majority of this summer's counselors , it makes me smile to recognize some of the younger campers all grown up and some of the most memorable co-counselors still rocking it out "Mainer Style."

Today, I'm missing everything about camp - the Hobbies on Lake Echo, Blue Rock in my shoe, Camp Cook Outs, the Birthday Song, talking with my campers about who they're in love with, Nights out by the docks, Camp Gossip, Socials, and sooo much more.

If anyone wants to hold my j-o-b and supplement my income for 2 & 1/2 months next summer, I'm all yours, Laurel.
Miss you like whoa.

For anyone looking for a Summer Job, this is the place to do it. Click here to learn more about being a Camp Laurel Staff Member.

"Wreaking Havoc"

MTher, Scottie, SKing, Charlie, & T-Phil

Friday night, while GC was away for a boys weekend at the camp, I forwent a tranquil night of mani/pedis, movies, and take-out. Instead, I called up my lovelies that I hadn't seen in a while and headed down to the Tap Room in River Ranch to, as SKing calls it, wreak havoc.

And while I could sit here and give you a play by play of what went down, I think the impromptu photo shoots speak for themselves.

The place where GC sat on the night we first met....

The Cold Makes Me Crazy...

December 2006

Riding Through The Country

Yesterday, Gentleman Caller and I took a ride out to Lake Martin. I was a bit of a grouch after finding out he'd be busy with a trip "up north" for the next 4 days. As I sat quietly in the truck and feigned interest in the mud caked on to Bruiser's side mirror, he honked his horn at everyone we passed on the gravel road and gave them names like Donna, T-Poopsie, & Earl as if they we're his long lost cousins. I gave a half smile and told him he was crazy. He repeatedly tried to poke me in the underarm as he managed to keep hold of the wheel. I giggled. He turned his mp3 player to Colt Ford and rapped along as loud as he could while snapping the straps of his camouflage over-alls. He got me. I'm still smiling at the thought of it all.

Enjoy a little Colt Ford.
For those of you in Louisiana, He'll be playing at The Texas Club on October 3rd. GC and I will see you there

Full Moon at Noon?

Work has been slow for the majority of us in the Oilfield. Some pass some time by watching the Cajun Onstar Video, while I, on the other hand, get to e-mail Gentleman Caller and have him respond a lot sooner than the usual 3 hour wait time. He's still a bit oblivious to all the workings of his new iPhone which means he's slow with his typing, but lucky for me he's mastered the camera phone. Throughout the day, I get various "country gangsta" photos sent to my phone - the four wheeler inside the kitchen, the pet rooster, "Bruiser" (his beloved truck) all muddied up after a good rain - and I love them all. Silly, pointless photos that make me smile or say "OHHH Lawd!" Yesterday when conversation ran low, I opted out of asking him to "Tell me something I don't know." for the 1,000th time and asked him to send me a random photo. Big Mistake. While I won't re-post the photo here (DixieLust would like to keep some of it's integrity), I will say that I got to see one of his co-workers bending over in the machine shop and showing me his "full moon" while other co-workers stood in the background and made vulgar faces...

It's what I get for asking.

Flash Back: July 2007

My bitty baby's first bath ever.
Now, she can't even fit in that tub and her paw is the size of my palm.

**WHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA**
My baby's growing up!

Alright

Who: Darius Rucker

What: "Alright"

Why: I've been hearing this one on the radio and no matter what sort of mood I'm in, I can't help but turn up the volume and sing along. Instant feel good.

More: See the music video here

Little Thing 10

Feeling like I've conquered the world when I remember all the back-road routes to small towns that GC has taken me to.

Happy Birthday Bruce Bruce!

Today my dearest daddy is the big 6-0!

I know I've rambled on and on about all the work I did on the slide show, and I'd love to say it was a huge hit at the party. Unfortunately, only a few guests got to see it before the bad weather shorted the power and my computer went ka-put.

So since I was smart enough to put all the photos on a flash drive, I threw together another slide show so we can all marvel at the life of the man I affectionately call Bruce Bruce.

Please forgive his lack of shirts and his affinity for "short-shorts"

Warning: The slideshow's a bit lengthy, so feel free to increase the speed or click above to view a gallery of the pictures!
